Iranian artist and activist Atena Farghdani was released from Evin Prison on Tuesday May 3.

The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports that according to her lawyer, Farghdani was released after having served her sentence.
Her lawyer reported last week that the appeals court had acquitted Farghdani of a number of charges against her and reduced her sentence from 12 years and nine months to 18 months in jail. He added that considering the time she had spent in detention, the sentence was already served and she would soon be released.
Farghdani was arrested in 2014 and questioned by the Revolutionary Guards in Section 2A of Evin Prison. She was released on bail in the November of that year, after which she spoke with the Jaras Website about her mistreatment by prison authorities.
Following the interview, she was summoned and rearrested.
