Nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 ended on Saturday in Lausanne without the parties signing a two- to three-page preliminary plan as had been earlier suggested. The Iranian foreign minister has reportedly expressed concern that such a brief draft would have no enforcement guarantees.
Reuters reported earlier today that a brief draft was being prepared to be announced at the end of the talks on Saturday. Iranian representatives, however, denied the existence of such a daft. NBC reporter Anne Curry has quoted Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif saying: “My fear is a two-page document is a paper tiger. Anybody can kill it.”
Iran has rejected offers to lift the sanctions in graduated stages and wants the sanctions to be removed at once.
The foreign ministers of Britain, China and Russia will join the talks on Sunday. The parties want to reach a preliminary deal by March 31 and then go on to draft the final language of the agreement.
