Jailed Iranian journalist wants to file complaint against interrogators
Mohammad Nourizad

Mohammad Nourizad, the jailed Iranian journalist and filmmaker, has issued an open letter to Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi urging him to process Nourizad’s complaints against his interrogators and judge.

Opposition websites, including Nourizad’s, have published his letters of March 5 and 7, calling on the Tehran prosecutor to process his complaints against two “abusive and violent” interrogators and Judge Maghiseh.

In his first letter, he also complains about beign kept in solitary confinement at Evin prison and demands to be sent to the general ward 350.

According to this letter, Nourizad has been on a hunger strike since February 28, when he began protesting his abusive treatment at the hands of his interrogators.

He adds that whether he lives or dies, he still wishes to file his complaint against his interrogators, who he says repeatedly subject him to slander and abuse.

Mohammad Nourizad has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison and 50 lashes for “propaganda activities against the regime” and “insulting regime’s officials.”

Nourizad was a prominent conservative columnist in the state-backed daily Keyhan. However, after the 2009 presidential elections, he published criticism of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Also, in a series of open letters he criticized Ayatollah Khamenei’s reaction to the post-election protests, which led to his imprisonment.
