A Russian company has announced it is set to deliver the S-300 air-to surface missile defence systems to Iran within six months.
Ria Novosti reported on Friday March 11 that Sergei Chemezov, the head of Russian industrial conglomerate Rostec, said the first delivery will be made in late August.
In 2007, Iran and Russia signed an $800-million deal for delivery of the S-300 missiles, but in 2010, Russia cited international UN sanctions against trading arms with Iran for its failure to meet the scheduled delivery.
Iran went on to file a complaint against Russia for breach of contract at the International Court of Arbitration in Geneva.
In 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an order facilitating the delivery of the missiles in light of the nuclear deal forged between Iran and the 5+1.
