Iran’s Social Security Organization has dropped certain insurance restrictions for pregnant women and a family’s fourth child in another move by the government to encourage more births.
The Social Security Organization announced the the policy changes are in line with the Islamic Republic’s general move to promote childbearing, in contrast to previous years.
Pregnancy leave is six months for mothers who nurse their infants, with at least three months to be taken following birth. The rate of compensation is set at two-thirds of the normal working salary.
Ayatollah Khamenei announced last year that previous directions to limit childbirth had been a mistake and the government should now encourage families to have more children.
