Sources suggest nuclear talks could be extended

Russian sources report that the latest round of tense nuclear negotiations between Iran and the world powers, which began on Tuesday November 18, may be extended for another two days beyond the November 24 deadline to reach a final deal.

The Voice of Russia website reports that the 5+1 are not considering a long-term extension, but the current talks may be extended to November 25 or 26.

Meanwhile, a member of the Iranian negotiating team has reportedly told the Iranian Students New Agency that if no comprehensive deal is reached by the end of Sunday, the parties will discuss an extension of the deadline.”

The report adds that consensus needs to be reached on the extent of uranium enrichment, the number of centrifuges allowed, the mechanism for lifting international sanctions and the activities at the Fordo and Arak Nuclear facilities.

The source has also been quoted as saying that in the final day of talks, both sides are determined and serious about reaching a deal and there is still no talk of extending the date.

Reports from Vienna indicate that intense talks are underway to reach a deal. Yesterday, the EU’s Catherine Ashton, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and U.S. State Secretary John Kerry met for the fourth time to find a solution.
