Nuclear negotiations end in Muscat

The ninth round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the world powers ended on Tuesday night November 11 in Muscat, although local media report that some representatives of the parties remain in Muscat to continue the talks.

This news, which was picked up by Mehr News Agency, has not been confirmed  or denied by Iranian or US sources.

Oman's foreign minister told reporters that the talks in Oman were not aimed at finalizing a deal but rather to exchange ideas and reach some common ground in preparation for the meetings in Vienna later this month.

Russia's deputy foreign minister Sergey Rybakov told reporters that reaching a final deal by November 24 deadline is both possible and the best possible scenario for the nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Hassan Shariatmadari, editor in chief of Keyhan daily and by many accounts the voice of hardliners in Iran, wrote in a note on Wednesday November 12  that if the world powers do not agree to an immediate lifting of sanctions, it would be preferable to have no deal at all.
