The Tehran prosecutor’s office says it has allowed the complaints regarding the harmful effects of interference waves to proceed less than a month after the Department of Environment called for a ban on such waves.
The Shargh Daily reports that attorney Mostaga TorkHamedani as well as other citizens have filed complaints regarding the harmful effects of interference waves.
The report adds that while the complaint files have been forwarded for court proceedings, orders have been issued to the Ministry of Communications and the Department of the Environment for inquiries into the matter.
Iranian authorities use interference waves to block foreign satellite programming.
Massoumeh Ebtekar, the head of the Environment Department, has already called for a ban on the practice, confirming her department’s knowledge that the waves have an adverse effect on human health and are even linked to high rates of cancer.
