Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps announced that it has identified and apprehended a “terrorist group affiliated with foreign intelligence services.”
ISNA reports that the IRGC intelligence forces in Khuzestan acted on information gathered regarding “terrorist and sabotage activities being organized in Iran.”
The report adds that the alleged terrorist cell was monitored and controlled until the members entered the country in March.
The IRGC states that the apprehended individuals intended to “plant bombs in sensitive locations and create insecurity in society by carrying out assassinations.”
The report indicates that “explosives, roadside bombs and mobile communication systems equipped with encryption in cyberspace and the Internet” were confiscated from the detainees.
The report says the arrested individuals have already confessed to being part of “terrorist cells supported by enemy intelligence services.”
