Two explosions in front of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut have left at least 23 people dead.
A group linked to Al-Qaida has claimed responsibility for the explosions that went off amid motorcycles and other vehicles near the embassy in the southern section of the Lebanese capital.
IRNA reports that the head of Iranian security and the personal bodyguard of the Iranian ambassador were killed in the explosion.
Marzieh Afkham, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, announced that Iran’s cultural attaché was severely injured in the attack.
AFP reports that the Al-Qaida-linked group Abdollah Azzam has claimed responsibility for the explosions and warned that such attacks will continue until Lebanon’s Hezbollah forces are removed from Syria.
