Jailed Iranian journalist Nazanin Khosravani was temporarily released from jailed yesterday, on Monday.
Khosravani has been reportedly serving out a six-year jail term since March of this year for charges of “assembly and collusion to act against national security and propaganda against the regime.”
She was first arrested in November of 2011 and held for three months in Evin Prison before being released on bail of 5 billion rial.
She had worked with several reformist newspapers such as Norooz, Bahar and Kargozaran.
Khosravani was arrested during the severe crackdown on protesters who denounced the controversial 2009 presidential elections, when Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s victory was challenged by his opponents.
Since then, journalists have especially become a repeated target of persecution and arrests, prompting Reporters Without Borders to describe Iran as the biggest jail for journalists in the Middle East.
