“Cyber attack” targeted Iranian nuclear systems: minister
Heydar Moslehi

The Iranian Intelligence Minister says a “massive cyber attack” was attempted against Iran’s nuclear facilities after the Moscow talks failed to reach a breakthrough, Press TV reports.

Heydar Moslehi did not explain how the attack was uncovered but he accused the U.S., the “Zionist regime” and Britain’s MI6 of being complicit.

Moslehi was reported as saying: “Based on obtained information, the U.S. and the Zionist regime (Israel) along with MI6 [the British intelligence service] planned an operation to launch a massive cyber attack against Iran’s facilities following the meeting between Iran and the G5+1 in Moscow.”

The Moscow talks took place on June 18 and 19, and the two sides failed to make any headway in the nuclear disputes.

Moslehi added: “They still seek to carry out the plan, but we have taken the necessary measures.”

Press TV cited an earlier New York Times report revealing that U.S. president Barack Obama ordered a cyber attack on Iran’s nuclear systems using the Stuxnet computer virus, and this week the Washington Post published a report claiming the United States and Israel had participated in creating the new virus Flame to target Iran’s nuclear program.

Press TV does not specify whether Moslehi’s statements referred to the Flame virus or a new malware.
