Terrorist cell destroyed in southeast: Iran
Mohammad Pakpour

Iran announced that it has destroyed a cell of a Jundallah militant group that had reportedly entered Iranian territory to “carry out sabotage operations during Norooz holidays” with some of its members killed and others arrested.

IRNA reports that Mohammad Pakpour, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps ground forces, announced that a number of surviving members of Albdolmalek Rigi’s group, who are based outside Iran, were planning to carry out “terrorist operations in the central and border regions of Iran” but one of their teams that had entered Iran was completely destroyed and dismantled by the IRGC forces.

“We got lots of equipment and explosives from the members of this cell,” Pakpour reported.

The destruction of a “terrorist group” in southeastern Iran was previously announced by the IRGC two weeks ago.

Jundallah is a militant group that claims to fight for the rights of Iran’s Sunni minorities in southeastern Iran. The group has carried out several fatal bombings since its creation nine years ago.

Abdolmalek Rigi, the former Jundallah leader, was caught and hanged in 2010.
