Kazakhstan has announced that it is prepared to host the nuclear talks between Iran and the G5+1.
Press TV, the Islamic Republic’s English-language network, reports that Kazakhstan’s proposal comes after Iran expressed its desire to have the meeting in a country other than Turkey.
Yesterday, ILNA reported that Heydarpour Shahrezai, a member of Iran’s national security and foreign policy commission, said the nuclear talks will take place in Iraq or Syria.
U.S. Foreign Secretary Hillary Clinton had said earlier that the talks will take place on April 13 and 14 in Istanbul; however, European diplomats have said the venue for the talks is still under debate, although the date of April 14 is reportedly confirmed.
Last week, the Iranian Foreign Minister had apparently suggested Baghdad or Beijing as the place to meet with the G5+1.
The last time the two sides met was in January of 2011 in Istanbul, but the negotiations did not yield any concrete results.
