Iran has proposed that the next round of nuclear talks with the G5+1 be held in Iraq instead of Turkey.
Hooshyar Zibari, the Iraqi Foreign Minister told Reuters today that an Iranian diplomatic delegation has proposed the idea to them and that he will discuss the possibility with ambassadors of the six world powers.
Talks between Iran and the G5+1 over nuclear issues last took place in January 2011 in Istanbul, where the parties reached an impasse,
Hilary Clinton, the U.S. Foreign Secretary, announced last week that the next meeting will take place in Istanbul on April 13.
Some prominent Iranian figures have expressed opposition to holding talks in Turkey.
While Iran and Turkey appear to still have close relations, they have chosen to disagree on the Syrian affairs of the past year, with Iran maintaining support for the Beshar Assad government and Turkey lending support to the Syrian opposition.
