Today marks the international day to honor the millions of refugees forced to flee their home countries. World Refugee Day is a day to shift the world’s attention to the plight of people fleeing from conflict or persecution. Earlier this month, a boat carrying approximately 750 people sank off into the Mediterranean just off the southern coast of Greece. As a result, at least 78 people died while hundreds more remain missing. Despite claims made by Greek coast guards that the ship was headed towards Italy, new investigations cast serious doubt on whether these accounts hold true. The question is yet again, could more have been done?
