Sajedeh Arabsorkhi, an Iranian activist and journalist, has been transferred to Evin Prison to serve out a one-year prison sentence. According to the Kaleme website, she is accused of propaganda against the regime for writing letters to her father, Feizollah Arabsorkhi, a political prisoner at the time.
Feizollah Arabsorkhi, a prominent reformist figure, was arrested after the 2009 election protests and imprisoned until last year.
Sajedeh Arabsorkhi was charged in absentia while outside the country and was sentenced last year upon her return to Iran. Her one-year sentence has been approved by the appeals court.
She was also reportedly charged with “collusion and assembly” by the Revolutionary Guards Intelligence office upon her return. She was held for one day and released on bail of 300 million toumans.
