The IAEA says its inspection of Iran’s nuclear plants confirms that Iran has suspended uranium enrichment at the 20 percent level.
Reuters reports that it has reviewed a confidential report by the IAEA confirming that Iran is meeting its end of the Geneva deal reached between that country and the world powers in November.
The IAEA reportedly writes: The Agency confirms that, as of 20 January 2014, Iran … has ceased enriching uranium above 5 percent U-235 at the two cascades at the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant (PFEP) and four cascades at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP) previously used for this purpose.”
EU foreign ministers are meeting in Brussels to decide on the easing of sanctions as part of their end of the agreement.
The Geneva deal covers the next six months, during which time a more enduring deal is to be negotiated by the parties.
