The head of Iranian Parliament’s Investigations and Auditing Committee has dismissed Saeed Mortazavi’s statements about suing government officials for probing into allegations of corruption against him.
Mortazavi’s lawyer announced yesterday that his client is filing suit against the minister of labour and the head of Parliament’s Investigations and Auditing Committee for “libel and defamation.”
Mortazavi is under investigation for allegedly paying off officials and misusing public funds when he headed the Social Security Fund.
Nader Qazipour, an Iranian MP and member of the Investigations and Auditing Committee, said the Social Security Fund is under investigation by order of Parliament and Mr. Mortazavi cannot start legal action against Parliament.
Saeed Mortazavi denies all allegations against him and has threatened to expose official documents and cause a scandal.
