Jailed journalist gets break from serving sentence
Massoud Bastani

Jailed Iranian journalist Massoud Bastani was granted temporary release on Sunday November 10.

Kaleme reports that Bastani, who has been in jail since July of 2009, is serving a six-year sentence for the charges of “propaganda against the regime and assembly and collusion for sedition.”

Bastani had been serving his sentence in Evin Prison but was later transferred to Rejaishahr Prison.

Bastani was a prominent journalist with a history of collaboration with the newspapers Shargh, Jomhouriat and Kargozaran. He was also the editor in chief of Jomhouriat website.
