New documents said to reveal cause of blogger’s death
Sattar Beheshti

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran reports that the family of deceased blogger Sattar Beheshti claims it has learned of new documents that prove his death was caused by “brain and internal haemorrhage.”

The Campaign reported on Wednesday November 7 that one year after the death of the jailed blogger, the family has been informed about the existence of a “coroner’s report documenting his internal bleeding in the lungs, liver, kidney and the cerebellum while in custody.”

The report indicates that the existence of this document in his file should leave no doubt as to the cause of Beheshti’s death.

Earlier reports from the coroner's office had claimed that there was no conclusive evidence that Beheshti’s death was caused by the beatings to which he had been subjected.

Beheshti was arrested last October for running a blog posting critical views of government policies. Five days after his arrest, his family was informed of his death in custody.

The head of cyber police in Tehran was removed and the family has since filed suit to bring the perpetrators of his death to justice.

There have been repeated delays in processing his case.

Beheshti’s mother, Gohar Eshghi, has written to President Hassan Rohani to ask his assistance in bringing her son’s alleged murderer to justice. She claims Akbar Taghizadeh, a police officer currently in jail, is responsible for Beheshti's death.
