Evin Prison
A group of political prisoners was released from Evin Prison in Tehran on temporary leave, the first step toward conditional or complete release, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reports.
The report indicates that Hossein Zarini was released on Wednesday September 18 on conditional release.
Ebrahim Babayi Zeidi was given temporary leave leading to complete release.
From among the women, Mahboubeh Karami, Soghra Gholamnejad, Mitra Zahmati and Maryam Jalili were given conditional releases.
The new administration of President Hassan Rohani is expected to make every effort to release political prisoners, whose numbers have risen sharply, especially in the past four years.
