The head of Parliament’s Legal Commission has announced that the two MPs accused of involvement in the $3-billion bank fraud have been acquitted of the charges against them.
The Tasnim website reports that the Tehran Prosecutor General announced the acquittals to Parliament.
The report adds that the outcome of the case against a third MP is still pending.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the head of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Arsalan Fathipour, the head of Parliament’s Economic Commission, and Mohammad Dehghan, a member of Parliament’s Presiding Board, were accused of having a part in the fraud case, which involved false letters of credit from eight major Iranian banks.
