Ahmadinejad claims no influence in nuclear talks
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told reporters today that he is not responsible for the nuclear negotiations.

In an interview on the sidelines of the launch of underground train service from Tehran to Tabriz, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad commented on how some groups in the establishment denied the effects of the sanctions and how they are now blaming the administration for the sanctions.

He added: “I have nothing to do with the nuclear debate and I am not involved in it. Someone else is in charge of that case.”

This is the first time that Ahmadinejad has announced officially that he has no influence over the nuclear talks.

Ahmadinejad’s comments come a day after presidential candidates fiercely criticized the handling of the nuclear talks in recent years.

In that time, unilateral sanctions on Iran by the U.S. and the EU have significantly reduced Iran’s ability to sell its crude oil abroad, which has had adverse rippling effects on Iran’s economy.
