Bread shortages in Western Azerbaijan Province have heightened in the past week Fars news agency reports.
The report indicates that protests have been especially evident in the city of Naghadeh. Similar shortages have also been reported in cities such as Piranshahr, Takab and Boukan.
Fars removed this news item from its website only hours after its publication.
In recent months, several Iranian cities have experienced bread shortages, but the Iranian government does not approve of the media presenting an unfavourable view of the country’s economic situation.
