At the United Nations meeting on the Rule of Law on September 24, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for an end to the “Israeli occupation”, causing the Israeli representative to leave the meeting.
Ahmadinejad referred to Israel as a “fake regime” and called on the global community to “make every effort to return the occupied territories to their owners.”
In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, Ahmadinejad responded to a question about reactions in the Muslim world to a film mocking the Prophet Mohammad, emphasizing that while Iran cannot accept any form of insult to the sacred and religious beliefs of any people, it does not support any form of extremist reaction.
Ahmadinejad also dismissed Israeli threats against Iran and said Iran reserves the right to defend itself against any foreign attack and is prepared to do so.
The Iranian president once again stressed that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and that the Islamic Republic has no military ambitions in its nuclear activities.
