U.S. “not setting deadlines” for Iran
Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton announced today that the United States is “not setting deadlines” for Iran and still believes that negotiations are the best approach to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

In an interview with Bloomberg Radio on Sunday night, September 9, the U.S. Secretary of State stressed that economic sanctions are building pressure on Iran.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week that the sanctions on Iran will not slow that country’s nuclear progress “because it doesn’t see a clear red line from the international community.”

In an interview last night with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Netanyahu said Israel is talking with Washington about setting “clear red lines” for Iran over its nuclear program.

Clinton stressed, however, that the United States is not setting any deadlines.

Clinton said on Bloomberg Radio: “We’re watching very carefully about what they do, because it’s always been more about their actions than their words.”

Clinton added that the U.S. still believes there is time to focus on the outcome of the sanctions and that it will make every effort to bring Iran back to the negotiating table.
