PJAK forces attack Basij base near Sarvabad

PJAK militia forces have attacked a Basij base in Kurdistan, leaving one person dead and four wounded, Iranian media report.

The Mehr News Agency reports that the Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK) attacked the Basij base in Salin village near the city of Sarvabad.

Sarvabad Governor Ahmad Mohammadrezai announced that the "terrorist group also sustained heavy strikes, and security forces are making every effort to arrest the perpetrators."

Mehr added that in the past two weeks, another Basij member and a police officer have also been killed in PJAK attacks.

For the past month, PJAK forces have been in conflict with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps forces in the border regions of Iran-Iraq. Both sides have reportedly suffered heavy losses.

A senior IRGC member reported "more than 50 anti-Revolutionaries have been killed and 100 wounded" in recent operations.

The Kurdish militant group issued its own statement on its official website, saying it has killed more than 72 IRGC members in the past 10 days.

The Islamic Republic has been pressuring the German government to expel PJAK leader Adulrahman Haj-Mohammadi from Germany, while raining artillery attacks on the border regions of Iraqi Kurdistan. Iran insists that PJAK forces are based in those areas.

The attacks have forced local residents to leave their homes, which has become a serious concern for the International Red Cross.

The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Massoud Barzani, and Iraqi Foreign Minister Houshyar Zibari have repeatedly called on Iran to end the attacks on Iraqi territory.
