The Security Headquarters of the Ministry of Interior has not issued permission for the construction of an oil pipeline in the southeastern province of Sistan Baluchistan, which has been the scene of several deadly attacks in recent years.
The managing director of oil pipelines says the presence of bandits in the area makes such investments in the region unfeasible.
ILNA reported on Wednesday that the Interior Ministry has warned the Ministry of Oil against pipeline construction in the Sistan-Baluchistan region.
The report adds that earlier plans to build gas pipelines for the province have also been abandoned because the equipment was “stolen by bandits”.
