A request to drop the ban on corporal punishment in schools has been denied by the Research & Cultural Council of the Administrative Justice Department.
The Etemad daily reported on Saturday October 18 that an individual had submitted a request to lift the ban on all verbal and physical punishment in schools on the basis that it contravenes Sharia Laws.
The Department announced that the Guardian Council has reviewed this regulation and found nothing in contravention of Sharia Laws; therefore, the request has been denied. The decision may be appealed within 20 days.
