No progress in latest round of nuclear talks
Abbas Araghchi

The seventh round of nuclear talks, which lasted for 10 days on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, ended without any concrete results.

The talks are aimed at reaching a final comprehensive deal between Iran and the 5+1 by November 24.

While no meetings between the 5+1 and the Iranian foreign ministers took place, Iran’s Mohammad Javad Zarif did meet twice with the U.S. foreign secretary and the EU foreign policy chief.

ISNA reports that in the second of these meetings, after two hours of discussions, the parties still could not bridge their differences.

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s senior nuclear negotiator, said they have not been able to make any progress on any of the remaining issues.

Iranian President Hassan Rohani, who is in New York to take part in the UN General Assembly, acknowledged the lack of progress in the talks and said the parties have to make “bold decisions” in the negotiations.
