Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton wrapped up a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly today, Wednesday September 17, that was aimed at establishing an agenda for the upcoming talks between Iran and 5+1.
Tomorrow, the parties will begin their seventh round of talks, after their last meeting in Vienna did not yield any concrete progress toward drafting a final and comprehensive agreement.
Prior to meeting with Ashton, Zarif told NPR Radio that Iran is prepared to forge a final deal. The deal, scheduled to be finalized by November 24, is supposed to set limits on Iran’s nuclear program and end all international sanctions on Iran.
Reports from Iran indicate that President Hassan Rohani will travel to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly and may also meet with a number of world leaders while there.
