ILNA reports that all of the Bafgh Iron Ore Mine workers who were arrested have finally been released and the 16-day strike has ended, with workers returning to their jobs based on favourable promises from management.
All detained workers are now free after one was released last week, two yesterday, and another six today.
The workers’ arrest two weeks ago triggered a widespread strike, with more than 5,000 workers stopping work and demanding the release of their co-workers.
Prior to that, workers had begun protests against plans to privatize the mine.
ILNA reports that workers have been assured that shares of the mine will no longer be offered to private investors.
