The students injured in the Shinabad school fire and their families gathered in protest at the offices of the president to protest the lack of government assistance.
The Fars News Agency reports that the students and families urged the government to provide them with the financial support needed to face the challenges of life with their injuries.
In January of 2013, an elementary school in Shinabad, Prianshahr caught fire due to a faulty heater, resulting in the death of two students. An additional 29 students suffered severe burns to their bodies.
The families report that close to two years after the incident, they are still struggling with the economic and non-economic challenges of the aftermath, and the government has failed to live up to its promises of financial support for the affected families.
