Another severe fire has claimed hectares of forest in Iran. The head of Kouhdasht security forces in Western Lorestan Province reported that a fire in the city consumed 30 hectares of trees.

ISNA reports that according to Mohammad Sadegh Rostami, 30 hectares of forest and range land and 500 trees were destroyed in Koudasht.

The fire has reportedly now been extinguished by forest rangers.

Last week, the Forest Protection Organization announced that forest fires have increased by 40 percent compared to last year, citing high temperatures and droughts as the chief causes.
