The director-general of Sistan-Baluchestan School Revitalization says 56 percent of schools are in immediate need of complete rebuilding.
Alireza Rasheki told Tasnim News on Saturday that 576 schools in need of rebuilding are mud buildings and are in constant danger of collapsing.
He expressed hopes that in the coming year all mud school buildings will be replaced by more appropriate buildings for school children.
The collapse of a school wall in Khash recently led to the death of a teacher as he was trying to move his students to safety.
Sistan-Baluchistan is one of the more deprived regions of the country, and the inadequacy of school facilities in the province has generated much criticism of the government in recent years.
