Ali Akbar Velayati, Iranian Supreme Leader’s advisor in international affairs says Iran will not accept any plan that is not approved by the Syrian government and guarantees the interests of the Syrian people.
In a visit to Syria, on Sunday November 29, after meeting with Beshar Assad and Walid Muallem, the Syrian Foreign Minister of Syria, Velayati once more expressed Iran’s complete support for “the Syrian president and the officials of his government”.
This is the second time Velayati has travelled to Syria in the current year.
The Islamic Republic and Russia have not supported Western insistence on removal of Beshar Assad and say Assad could be part of the political future of the country through a popular election.
The Islamic Republic insists that the only way to succeed against ISIS and extremist forces in the region is through support for the Assad regime.
