Jailed Iranian journalist Massoud Bastani was released on Sunday July 19 after six years in jail.
HRANA reports that in addition to the six-year jail term, Bastani was sentenced to a monetary fine, which he has not yet paid. That’s why he was only released on bail.
Bastani was arrested following the controversial 2009 presidential election and was sentenced to six years in jail and fines for propaganda against the regime and assembly and collusion to create disorder.
Bastani has worked with several reformist newspapers.
He was transferred from Evin Prison to the “dangerous criminals” ward of Rejai Shahr Prison in February of 2010.
