Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif responded to the U.S. president’s Norooz message posted on the White House website and addressing the Iranian people and leaders.
Barak Obama calls on Iran’s people and leaders to take what he refers to as the “best opportunity in decades” to change the relationship between the two countries and resolve the nuclear disputes.
Zarif, who is engaged full force in negotiations in Switzerland, responded in a tweet: “Iranians have already made their choice: engage with dignity. It’s high time for the U.S. and its allies to choose: pressure or agreement.”
The Iranian New Year arrives at the time of the spring equinox, and the first day of the year, which falls on March 21 this year, is customarily accompanied by speeches from the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Hassan Rohani, which will probably make references to the nuclear negotiations and possibly the message from the U.S. president.
