A month after their last strike, workers at the Safa Pipe Factory have once again stopped work to protest management’s failure to pay the second installment of their back pay, which was due on January 30.
The Free Union of Iranian Workers website reports that the all of the factory workers stopped work at 1 PM on Sunday.
ILNA reports that 1,000 workers have gone on strike, adding that Saveh City Council had ordered that the workers be given one month’s wages on each of the following dates: January 11, January 30, February 28 and March 16. The workers were also supposed to get a special New Year’s Bonus on March 20.
The order was issued last month after workers protested against the continued lack of wage payments and stopped work.
The workers told ILNA that even though payments are three days overdue, the company has refused to fulfill its commitments.
