Iran’s Interior Ministry announced that a permit was issued on Monday December 1 for the Neday-e Iran Party to engage in political activity.
The Neday-e Iran Party is a political organization formed by a group of reformists who have re-evaluated the events around the 2009 election, when reformist candidates MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi challenged the legitimacy of the ballot count and triggered widespread protests.
The crackdown on protests entailed the widespread arrest of reformist leaders and the banning of the two top reformist organizations, the Islamic Iran Participation Front and the Mujahedin of the Iranian Revolution parties.
Neday-e Iran founders believe the reformists acted in an extreme fashion in 2009 and should have shown more moderation and, therefore, refer to themselves as the second generation of reformists.
