With only two games of the world volleyball league championships left to be played in Iran, Iran’s Volleyball Federation has called on female reporters to arrive at Azadi Stadium on Friday and Saturday nights to cover the matches between Iran and Russia.
ISNA reports that the international monitor for the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball will be present at the games and will take note of the distribution of tickets among male and female spectators.
Despite efforts from the Rohani administration to lift the ban on women watching games in stadiums, hardliners have managed to maintain the status quo in this regard.
The head of Iran’s Volleyball Federation has expressed concern that Iran might lose the privilege of hosting the games next year if the ban against women in stadiums persists.
