A report published by the opposition website Kaleme says a solider guard tried to commit suicide following the attack on political prisoners in Ward 350 of Evin Prison.
According to this report, the soldier was involved in the attack on the prisoners, and his involvement led him to attempt suicide. The soldier reportedly shot himself in the side but recovered from the injury after being moved to a hospital.
Last month, more than 100 soldier guards along with security forces attacked Ward 350 of Evin Prison and severely injured more than 30 prisoners. Many prisoners were transferred to solitary confinement.
Despite complaints from the families of prisoners, the authorities have denied that anything out of the ordinary happened at Evin and they have rejected requests for an inquest.
