Mousavi taken to hospital for heart problems

MirHosein Mousavi, the Iranian opposition leader who has been under house arrest for over three years, was transferred to hospital by Islamic Republic security forces on Tuesday April 29, 2014.

The Kaleme website reports that in the past, Mousavi’s physicians have called for major treatment of Mousavi’s heart condition.

The report indicates that Mousavi’s blood pressure and kidney function have been problematic in recent months.

He reportedly was taken to hospital alone with no one allowed to accompany him.

Mousavi’s daughters have confirmed the news on their Facebook pages, adding that their father’s health is in grave condition.

Since last August, this is the fifth time MirHosein Mousavi has been taken to a hospital for heart-related complications.

His family maintains that these heart problems did not exist prior to his house arrest and they have expressed concern about the lack of adequate medical services provided to the opposition leader under house arrest.

Mousavi and his wife Zahra Rahnavard have been under house arrest since February 2011 for challenging the results of the 2009 presidential election and supporting the ensuing election protests.
