Ali Moazamifard, a member of the Gonabadi dervishes, has lost his job with the Imam Relief Committee in Demqan Semnan because of his affiliation with the Gonabadi dervishes.
Moazamifard told the Majzooban Noor website: “After several attempts to get answers as to why I was fired, the Committee admitted that despite my being one of their best employees, my affiliation with the Gonabadi dervishes was the reason that they had not renewed my contract.”
Moazamifard also reported that he was summoned on several occasions by the Ministry of Intelligence for holding dervish gatherings and was threatened with the loss of his job.
Gonabadi dervishes have been subjected to widespread discrimination and persecution in recent years by Islamic Republic authorities.
