Nuclear talks enter second day after report of tension
Ashton & Zarif

The second day of nuclear talks in Geneva began with a meeting between Catherine Ashton, the EU foreign policy chief, and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

IRNA reports that the foreign minister was accompanied by his deputies Abbas Araghchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi.

Araghchi reported that in yesterday's talks between Ashton and Zarif, there was a level of mistrust over issues that arose in the last round of talks.

Iran has accused France of disrupting the negotiation process at the last sitting earlier this month.

The U.S. has announced that it will meet with the Iranian delegation today.

This is the third time the parties have met in the last five weeks, and despite Israeli resistance against any deal with Iran, the U.S. and the majority of the 5+1 leaders are inclined toward coming to an agreement with Iran over its nuclear activities.

Araghchi has been quoted as saying that while the level of uranium enrichment is negotiable, Iran will not consider a complete end to its enrichment activities.
