A member of Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee has announced that Iranian Parliament is seeking to extradite members of the dissident group the People’s Mojahedin Organization.

Esmail Kosari told Mehr News Agency: “We will make efforts in Parliament to return all of them to Iran.”

He went on to add: “No third country should be allowed to accept them in a large group and give them the opportunity to maintain a coherent organization.”

Iran considers the PMOI to be a terrorist group and has been highly supportive of the Iraqi government’s efforts to remove the PMOI members from their country.

The dissident group has been settled in Camp Ashraf in Iraq since the 1980s, when they fought alongside Saddam Hussein’s forces against the Iranian government.

Last Wednesday, the Iraqi government finally evacuated Camp Ashraf of all remaining PMOI members. Now, more than 3,000 members of the dissident Iranian group are at Liberty Camp near Baghdad, awaiting asylum in other countries.
