The proposed minister of health, Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, says if he takes over the ministry, he will resolve the problem of medical drug shortages by the end of the year.
Hashemi told Khabar online that the first step will be to co-ordinate the various government bodies and parties involved, including the Central Bank, importers and customs, to get the drugs on the market. The longer-range plan is to build on that coordination to create a regular registry that tracks demand.
He added that the new administration will look at cutting drug costs and will aim for a patient contribution of 30 percent as opposed to the current 70 percent.
Hashemi added that his plans include a full review of the family doctor system to evaluate its efficiency.
