Two Iranians accused of plotting to carry out bombings in Nairobi have been sentenced to life in prison in Kenya, Reuter reports.
Ahmad Abolfathi Mohammad and Sayed Mousavi were arrested in Nairobi last June for possessing 15 kg of explosives. Last week, the two were found guilty in a Kenyan court, and sentences of life imprisonment were issued today.
Dozens of people have been killed in a number of bombings in Kenya over the past year; however, until now the government had blamed the Somali Al Sahbaab rebels for them.
The two Iranians pleaded not guilty, and their lawyer has announced that he will appeal the life sentences.
