Date, venue still unknown for January G5+1 talks
Saeed Jalili

Iran’s top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, has announced that Iran has agreed to join nuclear talks with the G5+ 1 in January but the time and venue have not yet been determined.

On a trip to India, Jalili said: “We accepted the proposal to meet in January for negotiations but have not heard about the details of it yet.”

Michael Mann, a spokesman for the G5+1 chief negotiator, Catherine Ashton, has also announced that the date for the talks has not been set yet.

Iran last met with the six world powers six months ago in Moscow and, according to IRNA, Iran made a five-point proposal in that meeting. Iran insists that its nuclear program is peaceful. The U.S. and the EU have imposed harsh international sanctions on Iran that have severely reduced its oil sales in the past six moths.

Iran is also meeting with negotiators from the International Atomic Energy Agency on January 16.
